Compare with Norwegian Nynorsk skjelpadde, Norwegian Bokmål skilpadde, Swedish sköldpadda, Dutch schildpad, German Schildpatt. Similar designations, but with different nouns as the second part, are German Schildkröte, English shield-toad.
