1. An outer space laboratory.

     Two possibilities come to mind: (1) the use of multi-body spacecraft systems, e.g. space stations or shuttle skylabs employing subsatellites and/or passive balloons. (2) the use of cluster system of several small satellites of different size, geometry and surface material.

From Cebuano skylab, from English Skylab, from its crude resemblance in shape to the space station.

Etymology

Named after the Skylab, although the vehicle's shape is more reminiscent to a satellite (cf. habalhabal, which is claimed to be named after the Hubble Space Telescope as well as a reduplication of habal). Alternatively, by folk etymology, from a contraction of sakay (“hop on”), lab (“love”).
