Etymology[edit]

Probably from Old Norse stallr (a stall, pedestal, shelf), from the same root as stall. Compare Danish stald (a stall).

stalder (plural stalders)

  1. (UK, dialect) A wooden frame to set casks on.
  2. (UK, dialect) A pile of wood.
