Etymology[edit]
So called because it necessitates horizontal movement like that of an older tank (military vehicle).

- (gaming, first-person games) A control scheme where the player character can move forward (relative to the character's angle), backward and turn, but that does not allow for direct sideways movement (strafing) or necessarily for the player to move while turning.
