tel ou tel (feminine telle ou telle, masculine plural tels ou tels, feminine plural telles ou telles)
- one or another, this or that
- Le caractère d’une personne résume la manière dont cette personne réagit habituellement dans une situation donnée. On dit alors qu’elle possède tel ou tel trait de caractère.
- A person's character sums up the way that they usually react in a given situation. We then say that they have this or that character trait.
- La musique classique de l’Inde repose en grande partie sur l’improvisation, en ce sens qu’elle n’est pas jouée à partir d’une partition. Cela ne signifie pas qu’on y joue n’importe quoi, car il y a des règles très strictes sur la manière d’improviser, et bien des musiciens apprennent par cœur des passages entiers de telles ou telles mélodies ou structures mathématiques, afin de pouvoir s’en servir à dessein.
- Indian classical music is largely based on improvisation, in the sense that it is not played from a written score. This does not mean that musicians play just anything, because there are very strict rules about how one may improvise, and many of them learn entire passages of this or that melody or mathematical structure by heart, so that they can use them for their own purposes.
