Probably from non-Sino-Vietnamese reading of Chinese 焠 (SV: thối).
Pronunciation[edit]
Verb[edit]
- To burn black, scorch.
- To cook an animal or meat outside in by burning or scorching its outer layer (mostly with skin), so that while the outer layer is well-cooked, the inner meat remains rare or medium rare.
- Near-synonym: nướng (“to roast without scorching”)
