Etymology[edit]
From Old Javanese upĕti, utpĕtti, utpĕti, utpati, utpatti (“origin, birth, incarnation; revenue, production; tribute”), from Prakrit (for example, Pali uppatti), from Sanskrit उत्पत्ति (utpatti, “profit, productiveness”).[1] Cognate of Javanese ꦲꦸꦥꦼꦠꦶ (upeti, “tribute”).
