Usage notes[edit]

The expression refers to the solemn promise of future sacrifices to the gods in exchange for fulfillment of the supplicant's request. Variously used to indicate a full twenty year period or to indicate a second set of ten year vows after the sacrifices made upon the completion of an initial set of vows.
