From Arabic وَجِعَ (wajiʕa), أَوْجَعَ (ʔawjaʕa).

weġa’ (imperfect juġa’, past participle muġugħ)
- (usually transitive, of a body part) to hurt
- Qed tuġagħni rasi.
- My head hurts. / I have a headache.
- (literally, “My head is hurting me.”)
