  1. (tourism) A marked and advertised road with special signs in a wine-producing region, used to promote local vineyards and other places of touristic interest.
    • 1978, Eve Palmer, Geoffrey Jenkins, The Companion Guide to South Africa, HarperCollins, page 367:
Stellenbosch's other attraction—it is a major one—is its Wine Route, and here we are back to Phyl's adventure and fun. It is one of the gayest, most exciting things to explore in all South Africa and since its start seven years ago it has become one of the country's major attractions.
