Etymology[edit]
From xocotl + huetzi, literally “(the) jocote falls”, as this fruit often ripened and fell during this veintena.

- (it is) the tenth of eighteen veintenas (20-day periods) of the xiuhpōhualli, dedicated to the fire god Xiuhtēuctli.

- Decimo mes delos mexnos llamado: Xocotlhuetzi. enq́ hazián fiesta al dios deel fuego llamado: Xiuhtecuhtli /o ixcoçauhqui.
