Egyptian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Possibly a New Kingdom descendant of earlier (intensifying particle). However, unlike that particle, yꜣ is not enclitic. It may have instead come from a contracted jw (clause-initial particle) +‎ (intensifying particle).
