Etymology 1[edit]
From Old Galician-Portuguese, from Latin plūmācium (“feather pillow”),[1][2] from plūma. Doublet of plumaço, which was borrowed from the same source.
Cognate to Galician chumaço, chomaço, and Old Spanish llumazo.
