Inherited from Proto-Turkic *ačuk (open); cognate with Azerbaijani açıq, Bashkir асыҡ (asıq), Chuvash уҫӑ (uś̬ă), Kazakh ашық (aşyq), Kyrgyz ачык (acık), Tatar ачык (açıq), Turkmen açyk, Uyghur ئوچۇق (ochuq) and Uzbek ochiq.
