Affixed from Prakrit 𑀫𑀏 (mae), from Sanskrit मे (me), variant dative of अहम् (aham). Compare Punjabi ਮੇਰਾ / میرا (merā), Hindustani میرَا (merā) / मेरा (merā), Nepali मेरो (mero), Gujarati મારું (mārũ).
