Etymology[edit]

From Aramaic תְּחוֹת (tḥoṯ); compare Hebrew תַּחַת (tákhat), Arabic تَحْتَ (taḥta), Ge'ez ታሕተ (taḥtä) and Ugaritic 𐎚𐎈𐎚 (tḥt /⁠taḥta⁠/).
