Inherited from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀢𑀮𑀇 (talaï), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *talati. Compare Gujarati તળવું (taḷvũ), Hindi तलना (talnā), Punjabi ਤਲਣਾ (talṇā) / تلنا (tlnā), Odia ତଳିବା (tôḷiba).
