Did manaman import nets from China? In any case there have been midge-ridden swamps in your ends, which you would “catch”, statically like a “snare”—and casting nets are also just spread out after which one waits, in case you doubt the semantic likeness of 帳子 “mosquito-net”. The catch would be of course if this is not attested that far back (then it would be another compound with …).
