Use in English - a parley[edit]

In English in some areas of the Pacific Northwest, particularly in older times, "a wawa" meant a parley or meeting or conversation. For an example, though from 1859 and with the archaic spelling "waw waw", see British Columbia History Quarterly from 1957, p. 159 at the top. Also "the wawa" could also be a reference to the Chinook Jargon, in which "wawa" means speech or conversation or to talk, or the name of the language.Skookum1 13:54, 30 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Canadian[edit]
