Etymology[edit]
From a- (“agent prefix”) + rú + ogbó (“elderliness, old age”), literally “One who has become one of old age”, compare with Olukumi árígbó and Itsekiri eligbó, proposed to be derived from Proto-Yoruba *a-rígbó, perhaps ultimately from a proto Edekiri form, though gbó (“to be old”), can be traced back to Proto-Yoruboid
