Lithuanian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Possibly akin to krẽklas (breast).[1] Alternatively from krèšti (to clot, coagulate) with progressive assimilation,[3] or akin to kurkulaĩ (frogspawn) and Proto-Slavic *krękъ (spawn).[2] Has also been connected to Albanian qurra (snot).[4]
