  1. Akin to Lithuanian šliùrti (to become dirty), with the terms sharing a tentative late root Proto-Indo-European *ḱlew-r-.[1]
  2. Akin to Lithuanian krèkti (to coagulate, clot).[2]
  3. Borrowed from Ottoman Turkish كیر (kir, dirt).[3]
