Etymology[edit]

If Arabic, perhaps from أَقْلَقَ (ʔaqlaqa), قَلَّقَ (qallaqa, to upset, disconcert). Or alternatively from قَرَّعَ (qarraʕa, to blame, repoach; to win a bet) with assimilation of the third radical to the first; compare also related قَرَعَ (qaraʕa, to strike; to impugn; to reject a suitor in marriage).

Pronunciation[edit]

Verb[edit]

qarraq (imperfect jqarraq, past participle mqarraq)

  1. to deceive, cheat, betray
    Synonym: għallat
