From Proto-Albanian *kletā, from *kʷle-té, thematic aorist of Proto-Indo-European *kʷelh₁- (“turn, become”) (compare Ancient Greek ἔπλετο (épleto, “(s)he became”), Old Armenian եղեւ (ełew, “he became”), Tocharian B klutk- (“turns, becomes”)).
