Albanian[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Uncertain. Either:
- a prefixed formation of rrë- + *fanë, with the latter unattested; from Proto-Albanian *span(d)ā, cognate to Old Norse fanta, fattr (“curved”), Latin pandus (“bend, crooked, curved”),(Can this(+) etymology be sourced?)
- according to Orel, derived from rrëfej in its unattested meaning '*to carry (away)', continuing the same meaning as Latin referre.[1]
Noun[edit]
rrëfanë f (plural rrëfana, definite rrëfana, definite plural rrëfanat)
