Korean[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Likely originally a borrowing from the Hwanghae dialect like 오잘머니 (ojalmeoni). Compare Hwanghae Yeongpyeong island dialectal 외잘머니 (oejalmeoni).

Noun[edit]

오자라버지 (ojarabeoji)

  1. Seoul form of 외할아버지 (oeharabeoji, maternal grandfather)

Usage notes[edit]

Like it's coordinate term, 오잘머니 (ojalmeoni), it appears to be largely, if not exclusively used on islands located on the northern part of the Gyeonggi coastline, such as Ganghwa and Gyodong island.
