Etymology

From Pali upakaraṇa (“accessory”), from upa (“secondary; subordinate”) + karaṇa (“making; creation; production; etc”); or from Sanskrit उपकरण (upakaraṇa, idem), from उप (upa, idem) + करण (karaṇa, idem); equivalent to Thai อุป (ùp) +‎ กรณ์. Cognate with Lao ອຸປະກອນ (ʼu pa kǭn), Old Khmer upakaraṇa (“assistance, support; instrument, equipment; etc”); Modern Khmer ឧបករណ៍ (ʼupaʼkɑɑ).

     Section 147 Accessory means a movable thing which, according to a usual local custom or to the clear intention of the owner of the principal thing, is an item regularly used together with the principal thing for the purpose of managing, using, or preserving the principal thing, and [which] the owner of the thing has, by addition, adjustment, or any other means, brought to the principal thing as an item [which must be] used together with the principal thing.

     Section 623 The liability of a carrier does come to an end when the consignee has already received and accepted the goods without objection and has completely paid the freight as well as the accessories.
